Program FAQs
🏃 What are Jump Start Sports programs?
Our programs are structured, weekly classes that run over multiple weeks (typically 6 weeks). They focus on skill development, confidence, teamwork, and fun in a supportive, age-appropriate environment.
👧👦 What ages are programs for?
Programs are designed for children ages 2–12, with groups separated by age so instruction and activities match developmental levels.
🎯 Are programs competitive?
No. Our programs are instructional and non-competitive. We focus on:
- Learning basic skills
- Trying new activities
- Building confidence
- Working as a team
There are no tryouts, standings, or pressure to perform.

🎨 Are programs only for kids who like sports?
Not at all. Our programs are built for all types of kids, including those who:
- Are new to sports
- Prefer structured play over competition
- Enjoy movement, games, and social interaction
- Want to build confidence at their own pace
Activities are inclusive and adaptable so every child can feel successful.
👧 Are programs engaging for girls?
Yes. Our programs are intentionally designed to engage both girls and boys by including:
- Cooperative games
- Confidence-building activities
- Creative movement and skill games
- Positive encouragement and leadership opportunities
Many girls thrive in our programs because the environment is
supportive, fun, and pressure-free.
🧑🏫 Who teaches the programs?
All coaches:
- Have experience working with children
- Complete background checks
- Are trained in age-appropriate instruction and safety
- Focus on encouragement, inclusion, and positive behavior
Many are teachers, college athletes, or returning Jump Start Sports staff.

⏱ How long are classes?
Class length depends on age:
- Younger groups: 30–45 minutes
- Older groups: 45–60 minutes
Programs meet once per week at the same day and time.
📅 What happens if my child misses a class?
We understand things come up. While make-ups are not allowed for individuals in the group program , our coaches help kids jump right back in so they never feel behind.
👟 What should my child bring?
Kids should wear:
- Comfortable athletic clothes
- Sneakers
- Bring a water bottle
All equipment is provided.
❤️ How do you keep kids safe?
We prioritize safety by offering:
- Small group sizes
- Supervised instruction at all times
- Clear routines and expectations
- Age-appropriate activities
Our goal is a positive, supportive experience for every child.
📍 Where are programs held?
Programs take place at local parks, schools, and recreation centers. The exact location is listed on each registration page.
💳 What is your refund policy?
Because our programs require advance planning, staffing, and facility reservations:
- Full refunds are available if you cancel before the program start date
- No refunds are issued once a program has started
- If a class is canceled by Jump Start Sports (weather, low enrollment, or facility issues), families will receive a refund or credit
All refund requests must be submitted in writing.
👥 What are your coach-to-child ratios?
We maintain small group ratios to ensure safety and quality instruction. Typical ratios range from:
- 1 coach per 6–10 children, depending on age and activity
This allows coaches to give attention and support while keeping classes fun and engaging.

👧👦 How do coaches support all kids in a group setting?
Coaches are trained to:
- Rotate attention among participants
- Adapt activities for different skill levels
- Encourage effort over performance
- Ensure every child is included
Children are supported individually within the group, but not in a private training format.
🚫 Do you offer one-on-one or private training?
No. Our programs are group-based by design.
We do not provide one-on-one or private instruction during programs. Group settings help children:
- Build social skills
- Learn teamwork
- Gain confidence alongside peers
